Our Story:

A few years ago my college age daughters came to me expressing concern about personal safety... in January 2007, our community experienced a horrific crime involving a young couple that was carjacked, kidnapped, tortured, and murdered. Our family was shocked and disturbed that this brutal crime occurred within 15 minutes of our home. 

As a concerned Dad, I began researching and interviewing numerous Law Enforcement Professionals to determine our self defense options. I quickly realized personal safety was only the beginning and determined to extend my research into home safety, emergency safety, fire safety, and travel safety. I am thankful to the many safety professionals that provided time, insight and recommendations.

Now that I was equipped with a “safety education” the next challenge arose…where would I go to find the safety products and training I desired? Local stores were not equipped to help and the internet was confusing and impersonal.

Our family's safety needs gave birth to a dream…the concept of our safety store was born. After meeting with the Small Business Administration, Chamber of Commerce and various business advisors we opened  Safety Smart in June, 2008. We are thankful for the support and opportunity to make our dream a reality.

We are committed to helping families and individuals become better educated about personal and home safety options. We take the necessary time to listen and inform our customers of their safety choices. We diligently work to provide the best safety information and products available.
